Sixteen Days Campaign- For the Elimination of Girl Child Marriage

Deputy Minister of Health and Population Dr. Tarek Tawfik confirmed that Egypt receives 200,000 births due to child marriage yearly.
Moreover, the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics announced in the latest demographic health survey that 117,000 children in the age group from 10 to 17 years are or were married with a rate of 14%, including girl children.
In response to these alarming numbers, which represent a crime against childhood, and on the occasion of the 16 days of activism campaign against gender-based violence, Belady chose to shed light on the issue of girl child marriage through a research paper titled ‘For the Elimination of Girl Child Marriage’.
