“Rejecting the appeal of Aisha El Shater and others against the decision to include them on terrorist lists”

The Egyptian Court of Cassation rejected the appeals against the decision of South Cairo Criminal Court to include 45 people, including the human rights defender, Ms. Hoda Abdel Moneim and Ms. Aisha El Shater, the daughter of the Muslim Brotherhood leader Khayrat El Shater, on the lists of terrorist entities for five years.

It is noted that the two women, Aisha El Shater and Hoda Abdel Moneim are detained in case No. 1552 of 2018, Supreme State Security, registered under No. 1 of 2021 Emergency State Security Felonies, known in the media as the ‘The Egyptian Coordination for Rights and Freedoms (ECRF)’ Case.
The events of this case began with the establishment of a law firm/organization, named the ECRF, following the Rabaa events in mid-2014. The mission of the ECRF was to defend prisoners of conscience and those who are forcibly disappeared, provide them with legal support, and publish their stories and judicial hearings.

Ms. Abdel Moneim was arrested on November 1st, 2018, and remained forcibly disappeared until she appeared before the Supreme State Security Prosecution on November 29th, 2018, mainly for joining an illegal group and financing Muslim Brotherhood members.

Ms. Aisha El Shater was arrested on October 31st, 2018, and appeared before the Supreme State Security Prosecution on November 29th, 2018, on the same charges.
