Rahim Khaled Farag Abdel Mawla is a 17-year-old child who spent two years in prison, far from his studies and his family. He was accused under case No.1530 of 2019, Supreme State Security, known in the media as the Joker case.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On his way to buy new sneakers, Rahim saw a group of people chanting. Because the situation was strange and new to a child like him, he recorded, using his friend\u2019s phone, a short video clip of something he probably did not see before.
In December 2019, the police broke into the child\u2019s house and arrested him even though they did not find any seizures, possessions, or any evidence that he had done something !<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rahim was forcibly disappeared for 55 days at the National Security headquarters, which is a violation of Article No. 36 of the Egyptian Criminal Procedure Code that stipulates that the defendant must be brought before the Public Prosecution within 24 hours. However, the child was subjected to many types of beatings and electrocution, which was evident on his body, when he was brought before the Supreme State Security Prosecution on February 24th, 2020. Being influenced by the horror he witnessed during the days he spent at the National Security headquarters, he admitted that he hurt himself when he was asked about the cause of the apparent injuries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The prosecution charged the child with joining a terrorist group in the knowledge of its purposes. Subsequently, his name was listed in the case known in the media as the Joker case. On April 28th, 2021, Rahim and others were referred to the competent Criminal Court on several charges that a 15-year-old child is unable to commit, such as attempted murder of police officers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Then why was Rahim arrested ?
The state launched a heinous attack on children, specifically in the Suez Governorate, after a video that was published in late 2019 in which four unidentified children appeared, wearing a Vendetta mask and calling for people to participate in the January 25th, 2020 demonstrations.For more than two years, Rahim has been in prison, suffering countless violations, far from his family, studies, and life as a child. His only crime is that he went to buy new sneakers.
