Ahmed Rajab Ahmed, is currently 26 years old, but his prison journey began when he was 18 years old. The child was arrested when the security forces raided his house. he was included in the case No. 451 of 2014- the Supreme State Security, known in the media as the \u201cHelwan Brigades” case. To date, his journey is still going on.<\/p>\n

Then, how did the journey begin?
\nThe child Ahmed grew up among acquaintances who constantly talk about demonstrations and what is happening in the Egyptian street in general. As an expected reaction from any child of Ahmed\u2019s age at that time, he tried to discover the meaning behind these words, especially after the arrest of one of his relatives.<\/p>\n

Influenced by the emotions of a teenager, Ahmed went to the demonstrations and wanted to know what was happening around him, but what happened after that was shocking \u2026
\nOn August 27th, 2014, Ahmed left his workplace and returned home to find police forces in every corner. He was arrested and transferred to the competent police station. There, the child Ahmed was severely beaten, insulted and electrocuted, until he appeared before the Supreme State Security Prosecution. He was accused of many charges, chiefly: joining a group founded in violation of the provisions of the law, attempt to overthrow the regime by force, and deliberate destruction of buildings and properties. Later, his name was included in the Helwan Brigades case.<\/p>\n

Ahmed mentioned in the investigation that he is just a child who attended demonstrations and that he is literally caught between a rock and a hard place. On the one hand, he was forced by the police forces to make false confessions and, on the other hand, he was threatened by people who use violence.<\/p>\n

Ahmed and all the children whose stories are similar to his have lost their entire childhood in prisons. Likewise, their youth is being lost year after year. Therefore, we say, every time we speak about children, that they deserve a second chance through which a mechanism for reconciliation with them and their reintegration into the fabric of society is provided.<\/p>\n
